Halloween Eve

On Saturday we had fun preparing for Halloween! We carved our pumpkin, went to a trick or trunk (which Morgan LOVED), and visited Morgan's Papa to practice trick or treating. It was a fun day!

First Hair Cut

Today Morgan got her first hair cut. She has been looking forward to it for awhile. I have been talking up a hair cut with her for about a month now so she would be excited and ready for the "big" moment. It was probably a little overdue, since she is 2 1/2. It was hard for me to want to cut her beautiful hair. Sounds silly I know, but all those precious hairs on her head came in when she was just a baby so they are special to me. Even Andy was a little sad today knowing I was going to get her hair trimmed up. We went to Sugar and Spice in Overland Park. I highly recommend it! They have a first haircut package and Morgan got a certificate with before and after photos, with her lock of hair attached and a bottle of conditioner. The lady who cut her hair was really nice and did a great job. Morgan got about 2 inches cut off. The best part is Morgan got to sit in a pink jeep and watch a Dora DVD as her hair was cut. She was a perfect angel and loved the whole experience. She even told me she wants to go back to the "hair place." My mom and sister went with us and then we had a delicious lunch at Smash Burger. We made a great memory today!

2 1/2 Years Old!

Morgan Jane you are 2 1/2 years old. Three words come to mind to describe you during this busy toddler year...Exploration, Creativity, and Imagination.

Here are just some of the things you have been up to the past 6 months.

  • You love singing...especially your ABC's and nursery rhymes. Your favorite nursery rhyme you sing all the time is "Baa Baa Black Sheep."

  • You can count to 20

  • You notice the difference in shades of colors and will say, "light pink, dark pink, violet, etc."

  • You can identify and know the names of lots of shapes...square, circle, rectangle, oval, diamond, star, octagon, and triangle. I am always impressed that you know the difference between a circle and oval and a square and rectangle.
  • You are a chatter box in the car and ask hundreds of questions. I love your curiosity!!

  • Thanks to Dora... you can count up to ten in Spanish

  • Lately you have been shy in new situations and can take some time to warm up to people or new friends.

  • You are my little love bug. I get tons of kisses, hugs, and snuggles from you each day.

  • I am so proud of how polite you are. You get complemented all the time on your good manners.

  • You are a details girl! We can't get anything past you...you don't miss a beat!

  • You still LOVE to read! I enjoy hearing you make up stories based on the pictures you see in books.

  • You still have no fear! You will scale anything you see and when I get nervous and tell you to be careful you calmly tell me how you plan on climbing the object. :)

  • We love your imagination! You imagine being everything from a doctor, to a baby horse, and having sleepovers with Mickey Mouse.

  • You love coloring. You will sit for 20 and 30 minutes at a time coloring. Your new favorite tool is markers. You have done a really good job using them on just the paper and not the walls or table. :)

  • Morgan you say the funniest things! You love telling me how everything is "your favorite." We also love how each morning you wake up and say, "sunny day today, Mommy!" When we eat dinner you tell us that the sun is setting. You are also big on saying "why" to everything.

  • We are blessed that you mind very well and you rarely have major melt downs. As long as you are given choices you seem to go with the flow most of the time.

  • You are kind to your friends. You share extremely well for a 2 year old. Many times you let your friends have the toy without a fight.
  • You are beginning to wear some 3T clothes, but you can easily fit into a lot of 2T except for the fact many of the pants and tops are short on you. You are now wearing a size 7 shoe.

  • You love spending time with your family! We LOVE spending time with you!!

There are too many amazing moments and milestones to write down!

Morgan you bring us such joy!! I am incredibly blessed to spend each day with you at home! Life is so fun everyday!! I know you will continue to grow into an amazing girl! Your Daddy and I can't wait to see all you accomplish over the next six months until you turn 3. Morgan you are going to be an amazing big sister! You already love the baby sooo much and I know your future baby brother or sister can feel your love!

Hugs to our sweet girl!!!

Zoo

We enjoyed a nice morning at the zoo last week. The morning started off chilly, but ended up being a nice temperature the last hour we were there. Morgan loved seeing all the animals especially Nakita the new polar bear. She also loved the monkeys, tigers, and kangaroos.
We look forward to going back in the spring.

Road Trip

We had a wonderful trip down to Austin, Texas to visit my cousin Blake and his wife Abigail. It was their first time meeting Morgan. I was a little nervous taking a road trip all the way to Austin with a two year old. Morgan was perfect!! In the six days of our travel she only cried twice and they were both just 5 min. melt downs. I couldn't of asked for her to be better behaved. We ate out a lot on our trip and she seemed to enjoy going to all the restaurants. We don't eat out a lot at home so maybe she thought it was a special treat. Morgan really took to Blake and Abigail and their three dogs. She still talks about all of them and the fun we had! I wish we lived closer than 12 hours away. Hopefully we will see them again soon. Thanks Blake and Abigail for your wonderful hospitality. We truly enjoyed getting to spend some time with you!

Pumpkin Patch

It's a beautiful fall day...sounds like a great day to go pick pumpkins!
Morgan actually woke this morning asking to go to the pumpkin patch. We had so much fun! As we drove up to the pumpkin farm Morgan shouted, "Excited! Excited!" I love getting to do big activities during the week days to avoid the weekend crowds. I felt like we had the place to ourselves! Morgan loved the hayride to the field of pumpkins, petting the animals, riding the train and enjoying an apple cider donut.
