Quite a day

We've all had one of those days where you think...I can't believe this is happening. Then you look back and laugh because you know you kind of set yourself up for it.

Well, today was my day. Morgan and I had an uneventful morning. She took a great nap as I did some cleaning around the house. After her morning nap she wanted to go outside. Yes...I am starting to understand all of her moaning, babbling, and pointing. She pointing to the front door. Being a good mom I thought, lets go outside and get some fresh air. We bundled up in our coats and headed outside to sit on the front porch. Morgan enjoyed discovering all the nature around her. I happily watched her eyes sparkle as she explored. She loves being outside! After awhile I decided we would walk around the back of our house and explore and sit on the back deck. I decided to lock our front door since we would be in the backyard. After about 30 minutes I figured it was time to go in and have lunch. I opened our garage door and got the "oh no" feeling in my stomach. Sometimes we lock the door leading from the garage into the house. I had a bad feeling that Andy locked it as he left for work in the morning. I tried the door...and yes...we were lock out!

I would like to put today in the category of not my best mommy moment. Not only were we locked out of the house, but we had nothing with us. No cell phone, no diapers, no food, obviously no keys...well you get the idea. I always bring my cell phone outside with me, but for some crazy non-thinking moment I didn't today.

Thank goodness my wonderful neighbor Angie was home with her two little girls. Emma is just 3 months older than Morgan. Angie was so sweet and immediately jumped into action. She gave me her cell phone and car. I called Andy and told him the situation. I am sure he was just shaking his head as I explained my predicament. Then Morgan and I ventured off to Andy's work to retrieve his house key.
My lessons for the day...
  1. Never leave the house without my cell phone.
  2. It's not a good idea to lock all the doors to your house unless you have a key to get back in. :)
  3. Make friends with your neighbors...you may need them one day!
  4. And of course laugh!!!!

I love it Jami!!! You will never forget that day... My worst "mommy moment" was when Camden was 16 months old and stuck his head between the banisters on our deck.. Little stinker got his head stuck!! Talk about panic.. I broke the deck with my bare hands to get him unstuck:)I totally understand!!!
